Both nationally and in Colorado, violent crimes and property crimes are down this year. The newly released FBI statistical report finds:
In the Denver area, Westminster experienced the biggest drop in violent crime — a 23 percent drop. It was down 18 percent in Denver, 15 percent in Fort Collins and 13 percent in Lakewood. …In property crimes, Westminster saw a 21 percent drop, with Arvada falling 19 percent, Lakewood 17 percent, and Thornton and Denver both experiencing 15 percent declines. Three cities saw the number of violent crimes climb — Pueblo, at 15 percent; Arvada, at 11 percent; and Thornton, at 4 percent.
