Sushi, cheese boards, and chocolate may rarely be craved in unison, but having the option of several types of food in one place is exactly what has made food halls such a popular Denver dining trend. The impending Broadway Market has diversified its roster with its latest announcement of future vendors: Mondo Mini, Misaki, and Miette et Chocolat.
If those names sound familiar, that’s because they are—all three are already vendors at Aurora’s Stanley Marketplace (and Mondo Market also has a location at the Source). “It just seemed like a no-brainer to be able to take the best of what we’ve learned over the last five years and apply that to Broadway,” says Mondo Market owner Nicolas Farrell. At 200 square feet, Mondo Mini will be a miniature version of the Mondo Market locations at the Source and Stanley Marketplace. The tiny eatery will forgo selling market items—such as olive oil and spices—as the other two locations do in order to focus on a curated selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and cheese and charcuterie boards. “It’s going to be as good as high-end restaurant food,” Farrell says. “We’re just going to drill it down to a fine-casual atmosphere.”
For Misaki head chef Jesus Silva, going into the Broadway Market was an easy call. “Mark [Shaker, founder of Stanley Marketplace and a member of Eclectic Collective group that’s developing Broadway Market] has already proved his abilities with Stanley Marketplace,” Silva says. “We wanted to be apart of another of his successes, but this location will be different.” While this Misaki location will still offer sushi and other classic Japanese dishes, it will also feature a raw bar with sashimi, ceviche, and oysters.
As at its Aurora location, Miette et Chocolat will bring dose of sweetness with its high-end chocolate confections and other sugary snacks. These additions join Mother Tongue, Biju’s Little Curry Shop, Pizzeria Coperta, and other soon-to-be-announced stalls in the 15,000 square-foot food hall, which is slated for a January 2019 opening.
Bonus: Farrell revealed that he’s working on a second stall for Broadway Market—a stand-alone outpost of the Little Noodle pasta shop. “Little Noodle [Pasta Co.] has been incubating inside Mondo Market [at Stanley Marketplace] but it’s going to come alive as its own brand and entity inside Broadway,” Farrell says. Look for more details on that in the coming weeks when the team is ready to make an official announcement.
