SO SHADY
Vail-based Church and State Optics recently added sunglasses to its fashionable line of eyewear. The debut collection of Sunnies features classic shapes with modern, high-shine colors—think gold, silver, burgundy, and navy—and even some retro-influenced flourishes (like The Standard–Dita‘s pin-dot pattern, pictured above). The frames are already in heavy demand, so if your favorite model is sold out, make sure to sign up for the C and S wait list.

A HEADY FEELING
Calling all Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones wannabes: Boulder designer and milliner CarolAnn Wachter will be teaching a hat-making class during the month of June. Wachter—whose headwear (pictured, left) has sold at several U.S. boutiques, including Barneys New York—will demonstrate everything from how to create a basic pattern to special embellishing details. Look for another class to be offered later this summer at the Denver Design Incubator.
The details: $105, Common Threads, 2707 Spruce St., Boulder, commonthreadsboulder.com; June 11, 18, 25, 6–8:30 p.m., call 303-449-5431 to register.
FASHION SCENTS
One of our favorite designer collaborations with the Denver Art Museum’s Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective (which ends July 8) is Boulder perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz‘s. Her YSL Collection (pictured, right) consists of six scents that tell the story of the great couturier’s career through the art of fragrance, from his years at Christian Dior until his final haute couture show.
Get it: YSL Retrospective Collection Coffret, $90, or sampler pack, $45, available at the Denver Art Museum Shop (through July 8); Essense Studio, 4593 N. Broadway, Studio D120, Boulder, 720-563-0344; and dshperfumes.com (full coffret only)
