Recent years have seen the dining trend, err, obsession with bacon on (or in) everything. Enthusiasts of the cured cut will agree that it’s perhaps best enjoyed with a cold, craft beer. This Sunday (November 16), celebrate that perfect pairing at the Denver Bacon & Beer Festival.
Returning for its third year, this one-day hops and hogs fete brings together some of Colorado’s best breweries and restaurants for a day of indulgence. General admission nabs you a free-for-all sampling of bites from eateries such as Glaze by Sasa, Sunnyside Burger Bar, and Edge Restaurant & Bar along with pours from River North Brewery, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project, and more. Weigh in and vote for your favorite beer-and-bacon dish and help decide which restaurant and brewery is crowned “Beast in Show.”
If you want to elevate the bacon-and-beer experience, nab a ticket to the Brewers and Chefs dinner on Saturday (November 15). The five-course, bacon-filled dinner spotlights chef-brewer teams such as Harman’s Eat & Drink with Crooked Stave, Hops & Pie with Copper Kettle Brewing Company, and Root Down with Great Divide Brewing Company. Each course creatively incorporates bacon and is paired with a beer used in that dish’s preparation. Expect an “appetizebeer” from Breckenridge Brewery, followed by a shaved squash salad with lamb bacon–vinaigrette and bacon sunchoke; coriander- and coffee-dusted pork loin with Renegade coffee beer; bacon-wrapped pork belly meatloaf; and a coffee cremieux with bacon Oreo dessert.
Proceeds from the Denver Bacon and Beer Festival benefit Metro CareRing and Project Angel Heart.
Tickets $46.50 to $65; Sat 6 to 9 p.m., Sun 2:30 to 5 p.m.; 1405 Curtis St., 303-571-0300
