If you thought you’d heard the last radio broadcast from James Dobson, tune in to “Family Talk” this week for a surprise. On May 3, the Focus on the Family patriarch is scheduled to carry on his evangelical messages with the help of his adopted son, Ryan, in the debut of a new show targeting next-gen listeners. Ryan Dobson talks at length with the Colorado Springs Independent about the venture, which “is the pilot project for a new advocacy organization, a $2 million startup that will be based…in Colorado Springs,” the paper reports. The younger Dobson’s resume turns up many published works and a history of media management, including the oversight of Focus’ teen publications. The extensive interview covers a broad range of topics, such as “growing up Dobson, his early years as a Christian rock musician, and how he expects the new organization to function in an already established epicenter of evangelical activity. He also responds to questions about George Tiller and Columbine, speculation that his divorce kept him from taking the reins of Focus on the Family, and the pros and cons of Christian cage-fighting.”
