One thing you discover when you’re moving is that you clean even more than you pack. You clean your old place. You clean the new place. You unpack things to discover they look like ancient artifacts, though two days ago they were perfectly clean coffee mugs.
After using bottle after bottle of cleaning products, I found myself taking deep breaths outside to cure the wooziness I felt from all the chemicals. Now that I’ve landed in my new pad, I’ve found a greener way to clean.
Luckily for me, making an all-purpose cleaner couldn’t be easier. All it takes is a bottle of white vinegar, a historically renowned disinfectant and deodorizer that can clean almost any surface in your house except marble. Also, one writer notes that it can hurt grout when not diluted properly.
What you need: An old spray bottle, water, and white vinegar.
How to make it: Combine equal parts water and vinegar in the spray bottle.
How to use it: I’ve been spraying my new mixture everywhere and am happy with how streak-free and fast-acting it is. The bitter odor fades as it dries, and, after seeing how well it’s worked, I’m regretful for not discovering this sooner.
