Every July, we publish our Top of the Town awards, a celebration of the best places to eat, drink, and play on the Front Range. And that “we” includes you, dear reader: While 5280 editors make their own picks, the staff always relies on tens of thousands of reader ballots submitted to ensure we’re covering every aspect of Denver dining, culture, service, shopping, and sports and outdoors that deserves acclaim.

However, the threat of the novel coronavirus means we’ll have to adapt this year. But don’t think that lets you off the hook.

While stories of panic, anguish, and confusion have sent the Mile High City reeling, we can’t help but be moved by the multitude of Denverites who have responded to the COVID-19 crisis with selfless deeds of kindness. From the Denver Howl to simply grocery shopping for an elderly neighbor, these everyday acts of benevolence remind us that Denver’s collective character is more powerful than the pandemic—and we want to honor every anecdote we can.

That’s why we’re asking you to share with us any and all acts of benevolence you’ve experienced or witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic. They can be long, short, grand, mundane, heart wrenching, or hilarious. If it made your heart swell—maybe your eyes go a bit teary—send it along. We’ll collect submissions and publish a selection in the July issue.
