Smarty-pants graduates who want jobs in technical fields might find Denver’s metro area a great place to get work, a survey released this week says.

Denver-Aurora-Broomfield ranked ninth out of the 75 largest metro areas when it comes to the best place for STEM grads, the website NerdWallet reports. The site made rankings based off income levels for science, technology, engineering, and math jobs, as well as the size of STEM industries. Reporting on the Denver area, the website said: “Aerospace, energy, and health care are among the prominent industries in the Denver metro area, making it a great place for STEM graduates. And the University of Denver recently launched a STEM initiative to expand its existing engineering and computer science programs, which will allow the student and faculty population to grow 30 percent.”

The San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara area in California topped the NerdWallet list, followed by the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett area in Washington state. While the Denver region’s showing is certainly impressive, perhaps most attractive to grads is what the website reports as the area’s annual mean wage for STEM employees: $84,380.
