There was an interesting scene Sunday at the PrideFest parade in downtown Denver. The two Democrats who have declared for governor, Rutt Bridges and Bill Ritter, walked the parade route shaking hands in the same parade entry. Two of the declared Democrats for congressional district seven, Ed Perlmutter and Peggy Lamm, also walked the parade route in the same entry. All four were part of a contingent surrounding an old fire truck that displayed the signs of several other Democratic candidates. Also riding along was Denver Fire Chief Larry Trujillo.
While none of the aforementioned four candidates walked along together in the parade, all were very cordial and did not get in each other’s way. Coming together in the same parade entry was a marked difference from the atmosphere surrounding last year’s U.S. Senate race, when supporters of Democrats Mike Miles and Ken Salazar would not have often intermingled.
