Chicken soup has long been the go-to dish for people suffering from the common cold. Not only does the steamy broth taste good when you’re feeling sick, research has shown it can actually relieve symptoms.
This winter, one of the best versions can be found at The Fort in Morrison. Listed on the menu as the Bowl of the Wife of Kit Carson soup, the signature dish combines shredded chicken with garbanzo beans, avocado, rice, chipotle chile, fresh cilantro, and Monterey Jack cheese. It’s hearty, a bit spicy, and comforting.
Now through February 19, $25 (not including tax and tip) buys you a bowl of the soup, two barbecued buffalo ribs, white-cheddar mashed potatoes, and a miniature black kettle filled with fresh apple cobbler.
Bonus: If you can’t make it to The Fort, the soup is easy to make at home using this recipe from The Fort Cookbook.
