With pitiful seasons in its recent past, it’s odd to say the University of Colorado Buffaloes football team has a winning record (2-1) heading into this weekend’s showdown against the Southeastern Conference’s Georgia Bulldogs. Still, the Buffs will likely be 2-2 as they walk off the field Saturday night, even with the Bulldogs’ pedigree on the wane so far this year (1-3). SB Nation Atlanta notes that although the Bulldogs’ offense is slumping, the Buffs are statistically worse, casting doubt on CU’s ability to run the ball.

The two teams’ only other meeting came in 2006, when Georgia pulled out a 14-13 win late in the fourth quarter, notes The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Thousands of Georgia fans are expected to travel to Boulder for the game, and the Daily Camera suggests they’re in for a “culture clash.” Buffs fans plan to honor the 1990 national championship team by creating a “blackout”—with all CU fans in attendance wearing black—in an effort to intimidate the Bulldogs (via CBS4). The last time the Buffs pulled off a blackout, in 2008, the team surprised a tough West Virginia team 17-14 in overtime.
