Number of campsites online guide Hipcamp tracks nationwide (as of June 11). Consider California’s Hipcamp a kind of Yelp-meets-Airbnb for tent-pitchers. When it expands to Colorado this month, the one-stop-shopping site will collate information about all of Colorado’s national and state park campgrounds—along with some private sites—allowing users to search by activities and amenities and see user reviews and photographs of each campground. You can also search by your current location. If you want a fishing campground you can get to between happy hour and sunset, for example, Hipcamp might send you to Eleven Mile State Park. The site will add more primitive, dispersed, and backcountry spots later this year. And by next year, Hipcamp hopes to offer information about vacancies too—which equals less time in front of the computer and more time in the great outdoors.
