Three damp construction workers peered into the gapping pit on Wazee Street between 18th and 19th streets on a cold, rainy Wednesday. When asked how they felt about working in the rain, the answer was unanimous, “wet.” The space—formerly called “The Z Block”—is in the process of becoming the “Dairy Block of LoDo,” a name derived from its location on the historic Windsor Dairy Block. The location will house a hotel, with a ground floor that will include a mix of restaurant, retail, and lobby spaces. The Dairy Block is in the heart of LoDo, close to major highways, transportation, and walkable to some of the Mile High City’s most well-known attractions, such as Coors Field and Union Station. The project is slated for completion in 2017, but let’s hope for the sake of these contruction workers that there won’t be too many rainy days ahead.
