Researchers at Colorado State University have been busy lately, filing a record-breaking number of invention disclosures this year. In the 2005-06 school year, the university filed 42 disclosures, but just four years later that number shot up to 119, notes the Northern Colorado Business Report and a university news release. Disclosures pertaining to clean energy, infectious diseases, and cancer research were up six times the numbers from ’05-’06.

But academic researchers aren’t the only locals in the spotlight currently for their creations. Three Colorado-grown, on-stage tributes to inventor Nikola Tesla are scheduled for Denver, Colorado Springs, and New York, writes The Denver Post. One of them is Capsule 33 by East High grad Thaddeus Phillips, which is playing off-Broadway before it arrives at TheatreWorks in Colorado Springs from October 21 to 31.
