Boulder Outdoor Cinema was in danger this summer after suddenly losing its storage space, leaving all of its gear homeless. Thanks to the City of Boulder, a new space has been found, and the show will go on.
The season starts this weekend with Raising Arizona. Gates open at 7 p.m., and pre-show entertainment includes house band The Whiskey Bottles at 7:30 p.m., as well as pre-show trivia and DJs from Radio 1190. The movie starts at dusk, typically somewhere between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Boulder Outdoor Cinema asks for a $5 donation, and they are also now offering concessions from Whole Foods.
The movies are shown directly behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, 1750 13th St. Bring a blanket or low chair if you want a front-row seat, but BOC still encourages its patrons to bring in old furniture to help create a funky vibe. (Just set up in the back so you don’t block the screen.)
If you can’t make it this Saturday, BOC runs through August with the following lineup: The Princess Bride, Top Gun, The Sound of Music, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Big Lebowski, and Up.
