If you weren’t one of the lucky people who nabbed GABF tickets in the 32 minutes before they sold out this year, don’t worry—there are plenty of great brew-centric events happening in the city. Take your pick.
Craft Beer and Comedy
Kick off the brew-filled weekend early with some laughs and libations at the Offensively Delicious comedy show. Help yourself to unlimited beer samples from 10 breweries including Breckenridge Brewery, Santa Fe Brewing Company, and Brooklyn Brewery during a comedy open mic. Enjoy three full pours when stand up comedians Andy Juett, Adam Cayton-Holland, and headliner Nikki Glaser take the stage. Wed 6-10 p.m., Oriental Theater, 4335 W. 44th Ave., 720-420-0030, $40.
$2 Pint Night
Even though you don’t have tickets, celebrate opening night of GABF at Black Sky Brewery. There’s no entry fee and you don’t have to navigate through a sea of people for a beer sample. Just show up at Black Sky and enjoy $2 house pints all night. Thu 5:30 p.m., Black Sky Brewery, 490 Santa Fe Dr., 720-708-5816. blackskybrewing.com. Free.
Beer for Breakfast
Euclid Hall’s culinary crew has teamed up with Avery Brewing Company to bring you beer for breakfast—at midnight. This multi-course meal features a specially prepared breakfast paired with Avery selections, including Uncle Jacobs, 2003 Czar, and more. Don’t miss out on the most important meal of the day. Thu 11 p.m., Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen, 1317 14th St., 303-595-4255. euclidhall.com. $125.
Oskar Blues Tour
This isn’t your typical brewery tour. The five-stop crawl kicks off with beer and breakfast at the original Oskar Blues Brewery location followed by more bites and pints at Cyclhops Bike Cantina, Tasty Weasel Taproom, and Chuburger. After the day filled with suds and snacks, they’ll bring you back to Downtown Denver. Thu 8 a.m.-3 p.m., multiple locations. oskarblues.com. $100.
Rare Beer Tasting
Beer is not scarce in Denver, but 50 top breweries around town are bringing out uncommon prized pours. Imbibe beers like Great Divide Brewing, Elevation Beer, and Grimm Brothers Brewhouse alongside a buffet-style lunch. Take home a commemorative tasting glass, T-shirt, and pen, and enter a raffle for a nine-day beer tour of Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Germany. Proceeds benefit nonprofit Pints for Prostates. Talk about a good buzz. Fri 1-4 p.m., McNichols Civic Center, 144 W. Colfax Ave., 720-865-4220. pintsforprostates.org $110.
