When Amy Yetman—founder of the Horseshoe Market, a quarterly craft and vintage bazaar—moved to Jefferson Park, she found she wasn’t the only one with chickens in her backyard. So with the support of neighbors and area organizations, Yetman started the Jefferson Park Farm & Flea this past summer. Three events, on Saturdays along West 25th Avenue between Eliot Street and Federal Boulevard, featured produce from northwest Denver urban farmers, live bluegrass, and a booth with information about animal husbandry. With Jefferson Park experiencing so much change (and the tensions that come with it), Yetman hopes the market, which she plans to bring back monthly in May or June, can be a unifying event for the community.
