Between Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the inauguration of our nation’s first African-American president, and Black History month, the Blair-Caldwell African-American Research Center couldn’t have picked a more appropriate time to feature its black film series. This event, which continues each Tuesday throughout February, opens with Sidney Poitier’s Uptown Saturday Night, a comedy about a mischievous duo looking for a lottery ticket worth $50,000. A Raisin in the Sun, Sarafina, and Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman screen in the following weeks.
