Cannabidiol, or CBD, has been trending for a few years now, but this wellness trend isn’t going anywhere. CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical in cannabis, has gained popularity for its potential relaxing, mind-calming, and body-healing properties. While the FDA has remained mostly mum about its supposed perks, many swear by CBD to help with anxiety, depression, and physical recovery. And eating and drinking it just may be the most delicious way to reap its benefits.
So if your grandma is CBD-curious or your dad is a CBDevotee, here are seven locally-produced, CBD-loaded treats to gift this year.
C.B. Dough Desserts
In terms of crowd-pleasing gifts, cookies, brownies, and blondies rank pretty darn high. Denver-based, sister-owned C.B. Dough whips up ready-to-bake chocolate chip cookie dough plus shelf-stable (ie, they don’t require refrigeration and can go straight into your to-gift closet) brownie and blondie mixes, which pack 15–30 mg of CBD per treat. Stock up at Joe Maxx Coffee or online; two blondie and brownie mixes for $20, cookie dough $18–22 per jar
St. Bernie’s CBD Gum
Chewing the cocktail-inspired gums from Lafayette’s St. Bernie’s CBD allows for better absorption and delicious chomping. Feeling festive? Pop a piece of Peppermint Schnapps or buttered rum. Need a taste of the tropics? Grab a tin of piña colada or strawberry daiquiri. 15 pieces, 150 mg for $20; 15 pieces, 375 mg for $45
Freshies CBD Cocktail Mix
At-home bartenders already know Freshies—the Denver-based all-natural cocktail mix brand is a top seller in the state. But you can also kick up your living room palomas, margaritas, and bloody marys with Freshies CBD elixirs, which load 100 mg of broad-spectrum hemp extract into each bottle. Grab a mixer at Argonaut Wine & Liquor; from $8 for 750 ml
Hemp Nuts CBD Infused Peanuts
These peanuts, which are available in four flavors—sweet, Cajun, salted, and, our favorite, ranch—are packed with both protein and CBD (12 grams and 100 mg in each bag). Plus, CBD is fat soluble, meaning your body absorbs more of it when eaten with fats (like peanuts!), so your loved ones will be extra relaxed. Grab some nuts at Sprouts, Leevers Locavore, or online; $7 for 1.75 ounces
Solar Roast CBD Coffee
These beans are everything you want from a cup of joe: deliciously rich, fair trade, organic, and packed with 200 mg of CBD to get your morning off to a chill start. Roasted low and slow (and with the power of the sun) in Pueblo, this is a decaf cup you can feel good about sipping. Find the beans at one of Solar Roast’s three shops (Pueblo, Pueblo West, and Colorado Springs); $38 for 12 ounces
Tribe CBD Gummies
The more thoroughly you chew these naturally flavored berry gummies, the better your body will absorb the 30 mg of CBD in each treat. That’s because the gummies are designed to break down and get absorbed in your mouth and then hit the bloodstream, with effects coming as soon as 10 minutes after your first yummy bite. 30 for $60
Miraflora Sparkling Beverages
The market for locally made CBD sparkling waters is bubbling over (see: Dram, Weller, Verywell, Sparkling), but one of our favorites comes from a 160-acre Boulder County farm. Miraflora uses full-spectrum CBD oil extracted from the organic hemp it grows on the farm, which puts 35 milligrams of it into each can of their sparkling beverages. Get them in tasty flavors like peach ginger and berry hibiscus. Four-pack sampler from $18
