While Lower-Highland’s Little Man Ice Cream is getting a ton of press, just up the road at 32nd Avenue and Clay Street, Red Trolley Cake and Cone has quietly opened its doors. And what a treat it is with homemade gelato, ice cream, and waffle cones (pick vanilla or chocolate), plus novelties like ice cream floats made with Wynkoop root beer, milk shakes, banana splits, and sundaes.

My favorite flavor of the moment is the heavenly banana-bread ice cream–creamy banana-infused vanilla swirled with chunks of real banana bread.
