The high-end hamburger trend has spawned another craze: the slider. While these bite-size snacks have become prevalent on menus at both bars and restaurants, few do them as well as Diego Zhang’s Burger Café in Centennial. Opened in December, this fast-casual spot serves a dozen varieties of mini-burgers, plus fresh soups, salads, and chips (no fries here). Not only does the eatery grill up unusual ingredients such as wild salmon and all-natural Niman Ranch pork for its burgers, it also gets creative with flavor and technique—take, for example, the Genoa with Red Bird chicken, basil pesto, roasted red peppers, and sautéed mushrooms. Plus, all the ingredients are mixed right into the patty so there’s no such thing as an imperfect bite. Our favorite selection is the Denver (of course) with Harris Ranch beef, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and onions.
