There are sales and there are SALES! (exclamation point included). And while this one requires a trip up I-70, the chance to shop Slifer Designs’ warehouse this Thursday, Friday, or Saturday is well worth the drive.
It’s been 15 years since Slifer Designs last opened its Eagle warehouse to the public, and the firm is slashing prices 50 to 80 percent on more than 1,000 pieces. A Vail Valley destination for more than 30 years, Slifer Designs offers curated furnishings and award-winning design services through its shop on Main Street in Edwards. “We’re known for a mountain modern style,” says Lisa Mikels, Slifer Designs’ showroom manager. Think natural elements traditional to mountain design—such as wood and leather—paired with light fabrics and clean, modern lines.
A road-trip sale like this requires a game plan. Our advice? Arrive in comfy shoes with an open mind—and a notebook with your key measurement requirements. “And get there early,” says Mikels. “There are some very nice pieces that will go quickly.”
When you walk into the 20,000-square-foot warehouse, expect a little bit of everything, says Mikels: lamps and accessories; art; fine bedding; upholstered chairs and sofas; small tables, side tables, nightstands, and even armoires. Top brands including Ralph Lauren, Henredon, and Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams will be represented. Keep a special eye out for a few seasonal items, such as a small selection of patio furnishings and even holiday decor.
Slifer will have warehouse staff on hand to help load your treasures; the shop also offers a weekly Denver delivery through which pieces can be delivered, for a fee.
“It’s a real blowout,” says Mikels. “We’ve had sales before, but nothing like this.”
Shop: Sale hours are Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, July 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The warehouse is located at 50 Marmot Lane in Eagle.
