Caveat: This event is not for everyone. But, if you heart Doctor Who or Robert Heinlein, you should head to MileHiCon (October 19-21). For 44 years, fans of all things fantasy, science fiction, and horror have descended on the Mile High City for this celebration of otherworldly storytelling. The conference regularly draws close to 1,000 attendees, and features numerous events, including presentations and discussions from more than 80 authors and speakers.
For the tech-savvy, there is Critter Crunch—one of the oldest robotic combat competitions in the world. For little witches and wizards, the weekend will include a Sorting Ceremony, Start of Term Feast, a full class schedule of Potions, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration, and a Quidditch Cup Tournament. This year, authors Cherie Priest (Boneshaker), C.J. Henderson (creator of comic detective, Teddy London), and artist Stephen Hickman (Hugo Award winner) are the guests of honor.
Details: The event begins Friday, October 19 at The Hyatt Regency Tech Center-Denver (7800 East Tufts Avenue) and runs through Sunday, October 21. A ticket for all three days is $46. For more information visit Milehicon.org.
