Winter is all about indulging in comfort foods and libations—steaks, heavy stout beers, and bourbons straight-up—that pair so perfectly with the hibernation months. Now that the weather is lightening up (and even when it’s not, as evidenced by yesterday’s spring snow showers), I’ve started to lighten up my beer selection, too. Around this time of year, I like to jumpstart my version of summer with a classic: Mama’s Little Yella Pils. The standard pilsner-style lager is an easy-reach on days worthy of patio drinking, and its lighter, no-strings-attached taste doesn’t leave you feeling bogged down (aka, I can have a few without feeling bloated). The brew is best enjoyed out of the can, as it maintains its crisp and clean profile, and preferably outside—like at Coors Field, if you happen to be there today for the Rockies’ Opening Day. Thanks to Mama’s, we can feel it: Warmers days are coming our way.
Would we buy it again: Yes, because we plan to do plenty of relaxing this summer.
