The Monday after Labor Day isn’t easy. It’s the day that we realize it’s going to be awhile before we get any more widely sanctioned three-day weekends. Things can seem bleak.
Which is why I respect Boulder Beer for throwing a very non-Monday party tonight by hosting a cornhole tournament. For the uninitiated, cornhole showcases the athleticism of tossing a one-pound bag of corn feed onto a wooden board. It’s an even safer version of horseshoes, which makes sense since it’s paired with Boulder Beer’s tasty pints.
The tournament, which is free to enter, starts at 3 p.m. with qualifying rounds. The tournament itself begins at 6 p.m., and the prizes include a keg of Boulder Beer, a customized cornhole set, and a pair of tickets to Boulder Beer’s anniversary party on Friday at the Boulder Theater.
The event is part of a week-long celebration for Boulder Beer, which turns 30 this year. (Hey, me too!) Check their Web site for a complete list of the festivities, including a night with the founders, live music, and more.
