Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

The latest addition to the Tavern Hospitality Group’s collection of laid-back eatery-and-drinkeries represents a departure from the sports-bar-meets-college-party vibe found at many of the group’s other locations. Sure, WTF is still laid-back, but its menu, created by Old Major chef-owner Justin Brunson, expands beyond burgers and beers to dishes and drinks that appease a slightly more elevated palate, like a seared tuna salad and the house specialty Nuts on 29th, a bold mix of Eagle Rare bourbon, Cocchi di Torino, Dancing Pines Black Walnut Liqueur, and orange bitters. The decor also feels a little more grown-up, making use of tufted vinyl booths and historic photos of Denver to set a fun and funky retro vibe. Sips and vittles aside, the real draw to this hip two-month-old Prospect Park spot is the rooftop deck. Southwest facing with nary a skyscraper to block the afternoon sun, you can bet this summer WTF will serve as a hub for plenty of late-day tanning and whiskey-tinged trysts. 2907 Huron St., whiskeytf.com
