Is Colorado Springs the training ground for this weekend’s Chicago Marathon wheelchair division champion?
Joshua George sure hopes so. George—a four-time Paralympian and holder of four world titles and a world record in the 800 meters—is trying to make a comeback of sorts, reports the Colorado Springs Gazette.
You see, George has won the wheelchair division three times in Chicago, but not since 2006. The last two years he hasn’t even cracked the top five, thanks to an impressive international field. Couple that with his 17th-place finish at the Paralympic marathon last year in Beijing, and George really wants to make it back to the top of his sport.
Standing in his way is nine-time Paralympic medalist Kurt Fearnley of Australia, who enters the Chicago marathon as the winner from the last two years and as this year’s favorite.
