Erratic weather throughout Colorado continues today with perhaps the hottest temperatures in Denver since the August heat wave of 2008 and the warmest June 7 in four years. Denver could hit the high 90s today, according to 9News, and concerns are running high for floods and safety issues around fast-moving rivers.

2CW provides a grim rundown of water deaths and disappearances, including those of 48-year-old William Spang of Aspen, who died Saturday in a rafting accident on the Eagle River, and 21-year-old Taylor Chisholm, who’s been missing since falling from an old cable car into the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon last week.

Over the weekend, Brittany R. Schult, 23, died after jumping into a canal near Loveland to save her dog. She was swept away by the strong current.

In Vail, organizers of the Teva Mountain Games canceled whitewater competitions Sunday, saying it was too risky to continue after water levels on Gore Creek reached a 20-year high.

And in Estes Park, officials are bracing for the worst with sandbags along portions of the Big Thompson River, which overflowed its banks in parts of town yesterday, writes the Fort Collins Coloradoan.
