Colorado cycling fans have been strategizing for weeks to snag the best vantage point for this month’s inaugural weeklong USA Pro Cycling Challenge (August 22–28)—a boon not only for spectators, but also for the Boulder-based Garmin-Cervélo squad. “It’s a dream come true,” says Garmin’s Peter Stetina, a Boulder native and son of two-time Coors Classic winner and U.S. Cycling Hall of Famer Dale Stetina. “It’s about time that Colorado had an international stage race. It’s going to open up a new mountain to conquer for a whole other demographic of people worldwide.” Watch out, Tour de France. Your Alps and Pyrenees have nothin’ on the Rockies.
