It’s heaven turning into Ali Baba Grill, off Highway 6 in Golden, after a day in the mountains. Nothing feels better than easing into the restaurant’s newly remodeled space and ordering silky baba ghanouj or earthy chicken barg tinged with saffron.
Recently, however, a new menu item has been at the top of my list. Owners Fiyahd Aoutabachi and Mahmoud Dukmak have added a quartet of fresh-baked savory pies. For just $1.75, you can order up the boat-shaped pies, made with baked white-dough bases and filled with spinach and pomegranate; walnut and red bell pepper; thyme, sumac, and sesame seeds (this one’s $2.25); or (my personal favorite) feta cheese, egg, olive oil, and lemon juice. Consider these the ultimate Hot Pockets.
Bonus: Ali Baba has another location in Highlands Ranch and will soon open one in the Denver Tech Center.
