“I am Al Gore,” he deadpanned, “and I used to be the next president of the United States.”

He made several comments about the role the Supreme Court played in the 2000 election:
“I don’t want the Supreme Court to pick the next president,” Gore said, “and I don’t want this president to pick the next Supreme Court.”
The Bush/Cheney campaign provided this response to Gore’s appearance:
We are happy to welcome Mr. Gore to Denver,” Bush-Cheney spokeswoman Nicol Andrews said. “John Kerry could not have found a better reminder of the liberal, out-of-touch policies that he embraces than 2000’s Democratic candidate.”
Also on hand was popular Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, who received a standing ovation from the crowd.
