In mid-December, Mayor Michael B. Hancock and city officials celebrated the groundbreaking of Ashley Union Station, a new mixed-income housing deveopment located at 18th and Chestnut Place in the desirable Union Station neighborhood. The $30 million project, which is expected to be complete in 2017, is part of a concerted effort by the city to address Denver’s affordable housing crisis—a hot-button topic that was the focus of 5280‘s latest Q&A session with the Mayor, which took place on Tuesday night at Call to Arms Brewery. “It’s critically important that residents of all income levels benefit from the new housing that is quickly sprouting in the Denver Union Station area,” Mayor Hancock said in a news release announcing Ashley Union Station.
