In the midst of the hectic holiday season, be sure to pencil in a free tour of the Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion. Six rooms on the lower level of the Mansion are professionally decorated by members of the American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) Colorado Chapter, each with global themes celebrating Colorado’s international Sister Cities, including Takayama, Japan; Lech, Austria; Olympia, Greece; and Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Sister Cites, formed in order to foster friendship, peace and sharing of other cultural traditions, are legal and social agreements between two diverse places. Traditional dress from each Sister City is on display outside of its decorated room. Enjoy the international experience December 8–11 and December 15–18, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The tree in the Stately Library is adorned with Austrian ski fliers and Helmut Fricker’s hat. Fricker is a well-known Oktoberfest entertainer and enthusiast in the Vail Valley
The decorations in the Palm Room’s Main Area are designed by Erica Deam of Aspen Redesign. The theme celebrates Denver’s Sister City of Takayama, Japan, with a deep purple kimono on display and paper crane ornaments hanging from the tree
Designers Pam Smith and Colleen Heldt decorated the intimate Governor’s Room with a Grecian flair, a nod to Colorado Springs’ Sister City of Olympia, Greece
The Stately Library’s decorations have an Austrian flair, celebrating Beaver Creek’s Sister City in Lech, Austria. The design was created by ASID President Carol Moore Mink, Carol Moore Interior Design Inc., and ASID Communications Director David J Rote, David J. Rote Interiors LLC
Boulder’s Sister City, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, is represented in the Grand Drawing Room and was designed by Trish Bonney
