“Thoughtful details,” says Ace Eat Serve bar manager Randy Layman, “make all the difference in this classic.”
In a silver cup, add 8–10 fresh mint leaves (save stems and top buds for garnish) and 1/2 ounce simple syrup. Muddle gently.
Pour in 2 ounces bourbon. Fill halfway with crushed ice. Stir around the edge of the cup until the outside becomes cold and frosty.
Add more ice, so the cup overflows like a “boozy snow cone.” Stir more. Slap the remaining mint against your palm to release the oils. Place the herb into one side of your cup. Add a straw and sip.
