First came Glaze‘s matcha tea latte (which I wrote about here). It’s the perfect cool-weather, cozy-up drink. But now, summer’s heat has me craving cool refreshments. Enter Glaze’s matcha tea-banana smoothie. The creamy, milk shake–like beverage begins the same way as the latte: your choice of milk and matcha tea. But add banana and ice and blend it up, and well, the combination morphs into a smoothie with a satisfying dessert-like quality. Try it—and add a delicate duo baum cake for good measure.
Later on: When happy hour rolls around and you want something with a little more swagger, look to Elway’s rosé flight with two-ounce pours of 2012 Remy Pannier Rosé d’Anjou; 2012 Merryvale Starmont Rosé; and 2012 Saint Roch Cotes du Provence Rosé.
Perhaps most fun about the flight is that the wines were selected by popular vote at Elway’s annual Pink Patio Party in May. The bash draws a couple hundred pink-clad wine lovers who spend the evening tasting 50-some wines. At the end of the night, the three bottles with the most votes become the signature rosé flight. Order the flight and, if you find one wine you love (my pick is the floral Merryvale), you can re-up by the glass or by the bottle.
