If you’ve graduated from appreciating the Colorado craft-brewing scene and are ready to participate, check out the Hop Barley and the Alers homebrew club, which meets tonight at 7 p.m. Hop Barley and the Alers celebrated its 21st birthday this spring. Among its founders is Brewers Association president Charlie Papazian, and the members include 80 homebrewers, craft-beer lovers, and even a few professional brewers who were born from the group. Group president Coby Royer says meetings consist of a meet-and-greet, dinner, a guest speaker, and the presentation of a “beer style of the month,” among other events. Members are divided into color groups, which divvy up responsibilities for bringing food, beer, and setting and cleaning up. As a part of the meetings, homebrewers can also share their creations and look for suggestions to improve upon their recipes. Royer says newbies are welcome, and there is no brewing requirement to join. Hop Barley and the Alers meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Boulder Masonic Lodge, 2205 Broadway St.
