Valentine’s Day can be a rough reminder of singledom, and the weeks following are often no less lonely. If you found yourself without a sweetie on the day of love, all the talk of romance could be the tipping point to download or sign up for dating apps and websites (again). Luckily, you can look beyond Tinder and Match to find your perfect mate. Check out these niche options to meet that special someone who’s more your style.
High There!: This Denver-based app launched just last week, but it already boasts a plethora of potentially dateable pot enthusiasts. Users indicate their preferred methods of cannabis consumption, their energy level, and general interests, and the app suggests similar profiles. Sort your search based on gender to find friends or love interests regardless of your preferences, and send connection requests to folks who strike your fancy. For a new app, there’s no shortage of traffic. Expect more than a few pings within a short time of downloading.
Bristlr: Unleash your inner pogonophile (beard-lover, that is) with this site aimed at pairing the bearded with beard enthusiasts. Although Bristlr, which is also available as an app, isn’t specifically touted as a dating site, it’s easy to see how it could foster romantic connections. In order to chat, users must have a mutual “like,” (think Tinder-type pairings), which female users have heralded as a nice break from the inundation of messages they receive on similar sites.
VeggieDate: If you prefer your dates to be meat-free, traditional sites can be a challenge. VeggieDate, an online-only networking site, offers a whole host of users from across Colorado, ranging from vegetarian to vegan. The site may look a bit dated, but its users are an active bunch, often boasting extensive profiles. Needless to say, this is one surefire way to avoid an awkward first date at a local steakhouse.
SkiingPersonals: Meet fellow ski bums through this slope lovers’ site. Denver boasts more than 1,000 users in a vast age range, allowing you to scope out the perfect partner to shred with. SkiingPersonals even features diary and astrology components if you’re inclined to share your personal thoughts or try to find your mate through the alignment of the stars. Oddly, none of the site’s questions are specific to skiing or snowboarding, but that’s what the About Me section is for, right?
AllPaws: Tired of searching for a human companion? Look for a cuddly one instead. AllPaws offers a selection traditional pets like cats and dogs, as well as small animals and even livestock. Local adoption options include breed-specific rescues, as well as anything-goes agencies, ensuring that the perfect pup (or bunny, cat, donkey…) is out there waiting for you.
