If you adore both football and romance, February 2022 should be quite a treat for you: Super Bowl Sunday happens to be on Valentine’s Eve. But there’s no need to call an audible on your plans this year. Here, our picks for back-to-back celebrations that will certainly please pigskin lovers and those hoping to be struck by Cupid’s arrow alike.
For Fancy Couples
Super Bowl Sunday:
Take a pregame dip in one of the Westin Riverfront’s three infinity hot tubs before heading to Maya. The Avon hotel’s restaurant will feature cuisine from the competing teams’ regions on game day.
Valentine’s Day:
Get the kinks worked out of your neck—and perhaps your relationship—with a couples massage at the Westin’s Spa Anjali before relishing complimentary glasses of Mionetto Prosecco and Chocolove bars.
For Broncos Fans
Super Bowl Sunday:
Book an overnight stay in the luxury-meets-log-cabin charm of Silverthorne’s Triple C Ranch, the part-time home of the Denver Broncos’ mascot, Thunder. Split the $14,375 nightly rate among 16 guests for a relative bargain compared with even the cheapest Super Bowl tickets. Bonus: dinner cooked by a private chef instead of overpriced, mediocre nachos at Southern California’s SoFi Stadium, host of Super Bowl LVI.
Valentine’s Day:
Leave the other lovers behind and head out on horseback with your date for a tour of the ranch’s 250 acres. Mosey your trusty steeds on over to one of the conifer groves and toast Cupid—and Colorado—with cans of Breckenridge Brewery’s Broncos Country Hoppy Pale Ale.
For Beer Geeks
Super Bowl Sunday:
Craft beer connoisseurs have options aplenty at Stanley Beer Hall, where 51 pour-your-own taps await. Stanley’s 14 TVs will mostly be dedicated to the football game—though the Puppy Bowl’s tail-wagging doggos will earn airtime, too.
Valentine’s Day:
Couples can find Shangri-La(ger) in the Crawford Hotel’s partnership with the Beer Spa. The package includes a 90-minute, malt- and hops-infused beer bath hydrotherapy treatment and an in-room welcome gift of seasonal beers and keepsake tumblers.
For Social Butterflies
Super Bowl Sunday:
Friends all vaxxed up? Catch the action at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center’s Mountain Pass Sports Bar near DIA in Aurora. With its 75-foot flat-panel TV, which Gaylord claims is the state’s largest, everyone gets the best seat in the house.
Valentine’s Day:
Head to Colorado’s own Sweetheart City and shout a collective “I do” with around 50 other couples at Loveland’s annual Valentine’s Day group wedding and vow renewal ceremony, held outdoors in front of the city’s famous “Love” sculpture.
For Food Lovers
Super Bowl Sunday:
Care more about what’s on the menu than what’s on the field? Snag a seat on The Original’s wraparound patio and enjoy its elevated everyday fare (green chile mac and cheese? Yes, please) while catching highlights on McGregor Square’s 66-by-20-foot LED TV.
Valentine’s Day:
Spice up your V-Day celebration with bold flavors such as duck confit and rich chocolate at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts’ Cooking with Cupid classes. Offered each evening from February 10 to 14, with a brunch option on February 13, the lesson will almost certainly add a dash of romance to your regular kitchen routine.
