Why rock the vote when you can eat it? Or at least talk about voting and eating and restaurants and how those three worlds collide with some of Denver’s top chefs and bar owners? On Sunday, October 25 at 5:30 p.m., a panel of local food and beverage pros will join the Mobilize Your Menu to Get Out the Vote webinar, and you’re invited, too.
Tajahi Cooke (Ms. Betty’s Cooking), Kelly Whitaker (The Wolf’s Tailor, Basta, Brutø), Jesusio Silva (most recently of Broadway Market and Misaki Sushi), Caroline Glover (Annette), Sean Kenyon (Williams & Graham, Occidental, American Bonded), and Angela Neri (Pony Up) will talk about the pandemic’s impact on restaurants, the importance of good food supply chains (and how the people we elect affect those supply chains), and less serious stuff like what the chefs are cooking and loving right now.
That's only $1 per issue!
The event came about when Alaina Silva, Jesusio’s wife, was contacted by the Biden/Harris campaign. She reached out to her contacts in the Denver restaurant industry and got a group going to make sure their voices are heard. “The most important thing is we mobilize the vote,” she says. “This event is for everyone; no one’s shut out of this process.”
“We’re going to address numerous issues, including how the restaurant business has been impacted, but mainly we want to get individuals out to vote,” Cooke says. “I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind. I just believe I’ve been silent long enough; it’s time we speak up and use our voices on any pedestal we have. We’re the people who feed the community. We’re just trying to bring people to the table.”
The Sunday night event is free to join. Sound like food for thought? Sign up for the webinar here.
ICYMI: Monday, October 25, is the last day you can register to vote online.
