Chances are you’ve spotted a Winter Session product around town. The Denver-based brand is known for classic bags made of waxed canvas or leather, and has partnered with many local businesses, making everything from leather bar-menu covers and coasters for the Hotel Teatro’s Nickel restaurant, to canvas tool pouches for Neighbor Supply. But as of this spring, Winter Session’s durable, functional goods will also be popping up in homes around town: The brand’s latest additions are waxed-canvas pillows trimmed in leather—similar in style to the Tote collection—and simple, stylish leather desktop accessories.
Just like every other item in the Winter Session collection, these new additions will be produced by hand, in a new workshop/retail space just beyond Denver’s RiNo neighborhood, by a small-yet-mighty team led by Winter Session founders (and Colorado natives), husband and wife Roy Katz and Tanya Fleisher.
“Since we produce everything ourselves, we have the flexibility to change within our product,” Fleisher explains. “We sort of evolve in response to the market and we’re always tweaking things after we field test.”
To wit, the new home-goods line evolved from a partnership with another RiNo pioneer, the Source. Regulars at the RiNo Yacht Club are already familiar with Winter Session’s aprons (worn by bartenders) and leather-trimmed pillows, as are guests who have stayed at the Source Hotel. Fleisher says it was a natural progression to add pillows, Dopp kits, desk sets, and leather trays to the product line-up. The new items continue the brand’s refined-utilitarian aesthetic—and the tradition of waxed canvas and leather fabrication that looks better with every use. Find them this summer at the workshop (3833 N. Steele St., Unit C) and select outdoor markets.
