Calling all cooks: Junior League of Denver (JLD) is assembling a new cookbook—its sixth—and the 99-year-old organization needs your help. Centennial Celebrations will be a register of recipes perfect for any fête, from date nights to holidays to birthdays, and JLD is seeking beloved recipes from the community for possible inclusion.
“Before I was a League member, I was eating delicious dishes from our triple-tested cookbooks. My in-laws have a tradition of making the tasty mushroom quiche from Creme de Colorado for Boxing Day every year,” says Kali Handford, JLD president. “It’s a great example of the nostalgic impact that memorable dishes can have.”
Do you have a dish that’s been passed down for generations? Or a recipe your friends fawn over every Friendsgiving? Send it along, and you may just see your name in print when Centennial Celebrations published in 2019.
Since Colorado Cache was released in 1978, JLD’s award-winning cookbooks have become a go-to for local cooks. What’s more: Sales of the organization’s five cookbooks has raised close to $7 million to aid JLD’s mission of training and developing female civic volunteers.
Submissions are due by November 20. Email your favorite celebratory recipe to recipes@jld.org; by mail (c/o Recipe Collection) to 1140 Delaware St., Denver, CO 80204; or submit online using book code 8020-VS.
