With the rush of holiday parties, now is the perfect time to accent your cocktail look with high-wattage jewelry. Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but sometimes more elaborate baubles—bold, statement pieces—are just more fun. Be wary of anything that looks too inexpensive: Good costume or fashion jewelry is still an investment. So if you’re gifting yourself with a statement piece or two this holiday season (or asking someone else to), here’s where to start:
Gothic evening glamour was big on the fall runway (see Gucci and Givenchy) and nothing defines the trend better than black and lace. Denver web jeweler Aston Royal’s Midnight Lace Ring (pictured, left) perfectly captures the look in sterling silver scrollwork accented with white cubic zirconia stones and black detailing.

Inspired by client requests to incorporate antique family trinkets into her custom jewelry pieces, Denver-based Andrea Li introduced a reworked vintage line earlier this year. Look for pieces that fuse collectible brooches and earrings with Li’s modern aesthetic, such as her signature asymmetrical shapes and tonal gemstone clusters. The best part: The line starts at just $50.

If a mix of precious and playful better fits your style personality, try a vibrant wrap bracelet by Anne Sportun (pictured, right). The arm candy is made of 18-karat gold and multicolored cubic zirconia beads—and its 34-inch length means the piece can also be worn as a long or double-wrapped necklace.
