Union Station Buskerfest | August 1–4
Get wowed by street performances with Denver’s fourth annual Buskerfest, taking place throughout Colorado Day Weekend. From pyrotechnics and juggling to drummers and stilt walkers, Wynkoop Plaza outside Union Station will be full of acts to startle, delight, and stun in celebration of the Centennial State’s 143rd birthday. Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival | August 9–11
Originally started as a celebration of Wheat Ridge’s rich history as a hub for the carnation and agricultural industry, the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival is now an annual event that raises funds for local nonprofits and organizations. Carnival rides, live music, car and fine art shows, a parade, food, and a big-top circus highlight the event. Times vary. Parking is limited, but shuttle service is available. Trail Hacks for Dogs | August 10
Does Rufus join you on the trail? Then add this free seminar to your calendar. Guitar Town | August 9–11
Guitarists are taking over Copper Mountain for three days of free performances, guitar and songwriting workshops, and giveaways. Whether you’ve been strumming chords since your sixth birthday or you’re a music-lover who just learned what “acoustic” means, Guitar Town will bring music to your ears and give you an opportunity to level-up your own musical abilities. Don’t miss the campfire jam session on Friday night or the acoustic kids showcase on Saturday evening. 24 Hours Block Party | August 10
Interactive art projects, a poetry reading, roundtable discussion, and music and theater performances are just a few of the elements composing this year’s 24 Hours Block Party, a daylong event put on by the RedLine Contemporary Art Center. Hangar 2’s Summer Sundaes | August 11
The rocket at Hangar 2 in Lowry serves as the backdrop for this family-friendly event. Kids can go wild before school starts with a bouncy castle, trivia, breakdancing, and more. Lafayette Peach Festival | August 17
Peach season is upon us! Colorado’s own Palisade peaches are on their way to the 20th annual Lafayette Peach Festival, where you can enjoy the drip-off-your-elbows juiciness in everything from smoothies to desserts. Polish Food Festival | August 24–25
Think you can win a pierogi-eating contest? Here’s your chance. The Polish Food Festival offers two opportunities for you to compete and eat as many of the Polish dumplings as possible. Or you can simply sit back and enjoy performances of Polish folk dancers and singers, and join the evening dance parties facilitated by deejayed beats. Reggae on the Grass | August 25
Rock out for 10 hours at the second-annual Reggae on the Grass, part of Levitt Pavilion’s free concert series. In addition to a variety of local reggae musicians, the event will have a marketplace selling merchandise, art, and other items. All ages are welcome. Yoga on the Plaza | August 31
