Governor’s Art Show
For 34 years, this juried art show has introduced Coloradans to some of the state’s best artists. Stop by the Loveland Museum this month to see Lorri Acott’s impressionistic figurative sculptures, oil paintings of dramatic Centennial State landscapes by Philip Carlton, animals from the Rocky Mountain region in watercolor courtesy of Andrew Barker, and other works. Tommaso Cortonesi & Carne Wine Dinner
No need to renew your passport this spring break—this paired wine dinner is bringing the Italian countryside to the Front Range. Third-generation winemaker Tommaso Cortonesi is teaming up with Carne RiNo chef Dana Rodriguez on a three-course feast, which will include dishes such as rosemary roasted beet salad, duck confit leg, and vanilla panna cotta. Each plate will be served with wine from Montalcino, Italy. May 6; 6:30 p.m.; $146 per person

Colorado Chocolate Festival
If you’re at a loss for what to get your mom for Mother’s Day, you can’t go wrong with chocolate. At this 80-vendor cocoa summit, there’s sure to be a sweet that suits her fancy. Sample fudges, brownies, truffles, cakes, and more from makers such as Siamaya Chocolate and What the Fudge Co. You’ll even have the option to drink your dessert at the martini bar. Ring of Fire
From A Boy Named Sue to Folsom Prison Blues to Hurt, Johnny Cash’s discography is studded with classics. At this jukebox musical, hardcore fans and casual listeners alike can enjoy Cash’s tunes as they’re woven into a narrative about the life of the “Man in Black.” May 9–June 29; times vary; $40–$64

Golden Gals Granny Brunch

In the spirit of honoring our favorite ladies this weekend, this brunch bash is celebrating senior citizens in style. Gather up your gal pals (old and young), compliment your outfit with curlers and a cane, and head to Denver Milk Market. Get down with your fellow grannies to a special DJ set, enjoy brunch specials, write letters to nursing homes around Colorado, and make your own bouquet. May 10; 11 a.m.–2 p.m.; free, RSVP here

World Collage Day
Can’t draw a stick figure or even color inside the lines? No problem. If you can safely wield scissors and a glue stick, you can become a collage artist. For World Collage Day, the Art Students League of Denver is hosting a workshop where faculty will demonstrate the craft.
