Mardi Gras Masquerade Party
Purple and green beads. A big brass band. King cake (with a tiny baby inside). This Mardi Gras bash at Stanley Marketplace has all the trappings of a Big Easy celebration, minus Bourbon Street. Revelers can have their fortunes told, get their face painted, hold reptiles, and swing dance to some NOLA-style jazz from the Mile High Brass Band. March 4; 6–8 p.m.; free attendance
Colorado Pint Day
It goes without saying that Coloradans love their beer—so much so that they created this suds celebration. On Wednesday, head to your favorite participating brewery (there are more than 200 across the state) to score a limited-edition pint glass. One dollar of each sale goes back to the Colorado Brewer’s Guild to support the craft beer community. March 5; times vary at locations; pricing for pint glass varies by brewery
Mountainfilm on Tour
If your idea of a wild Saturday night is listening to the soothing voice of Sir David Attenborough share the secrets of planet earth, you’ll want to snag tickets to this film festival hosted by the Nature Conservancy. Head to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to catch a series of short films about conservation, including some about environmental issues right in our backyard (Asking Less documents the water crisis facing the Colorado River). Afterward, stick around for a panel discussion with the filmmakers, plus a reception with a sweet treat. March 5; 7 p.m.; $15–$18
SAME Table Gala
Throughout the year, So All May Eat (SAME) Café provides nutritious meals for all Denverites, regardless of how much they can pay. At this annual fete, community members can give back to the organization. Local chefs from the likes of Somebody People, Hesher BBQ, and IWACU Flavors will sling small bites while guests bid on auction items, like a weeklong stay in Silverthorne. Denver Restaurant Week
Both big spenders and those balling on a budget can dine like royalty during the Mile High City’s annual weeklong celebration of its culinary scene. More than 300 participating restaurants across the city will have menus at four price points: $25, $35, $45, and $55. Stop by Champagne Tiger for oysters, mushroom linguine, and chocolate pot de creme ($35); the Bindery for frutti di mare risotto and whipped tahini cake ($45); or check out the hundreds of other options online. Cocktail Chronicles: Shaken or Stirred?
Learn why James Bond might have preferred his martini shaken not stirred during this boozy class dedicated to both techniques. Salita bartenders will walk the group through when to shake, when to stir, and why it matters. Students will also get to partake in light snacks and take home a recipe book and house-made bitters or syrups to kick off your at-home mixology sessions. March 8; noon–2 p.m.; $80
