Break out the tequila because it’s National Margarita Day. It may seem strange that it falls halfway through winter rather than on a warm summer day, but who are we to argue? There are many margarita options around town—maybe even an overwhelming amount—but here are five of our favorites to sip today (or any other time).

La Biblioteca de Tequila

One of Denver’s newer tequila bars, Biblioteca opened its doors in November, and it infuses tequilas with everything from grilled pineapple to tamarind. Tell the bartender which you would like and he will mix it up with agave nectar and fresh lime. Tip: Go on Mondays when every margarita is $5 all night.

Lola

Specializing in coin-style margaritas, Lola’s concoctions are a close cousins to ones found south of the boarder. With more than 200 tequilas to choose from and “tequila geeks” on staff, any of the six margs on the menu with perk up your chips and guacamole. All are served on the rocks with lime juice and a splash of orange liqueur. Prices drop during happy hour, which is much cheaper than a plane ticket to Mexico.

Benny’s Restaurant & Tequila Bar

Known for it’s authentic Mexican food, this Capital Hill outpost boasts 13 different margaritas including the pink Cadillac and grand horny. Go on Tuesday s when Benny serves up liter-sized Jose Cuervo Gold house margs for $15.

La Loma

Small, medium, or large, order up your preferred size of frozen or on the rocks margarita at one of Denver’s best Mexican joints. Tired of lime? They have you covered with strawberry, peach, or mango as well. Plus, La Loma has a roaring fireplace to keep you warm while you sip today.

Emilio’s Mexican Resturaunt

You can’t get much these days for less than $2, but you can get a stiff margarita at Emilio’s. Usually $4.50, the house marg drops to $1.75 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to close. Not to worry, it doesn’t shrink in size; it’s still a full 16 ounces.
