Boulder’s Tee & Cakes has been getting a lotta love for its unusually flavored bacon cupcakes–yes, you read that right. On Saturdays, the hipster bakery whips up dozens of maple-flavored cupcakes topped with chocolate ganache and crumbled smoked bacon. Sounds strange, until you discover that each bite has a pleasant balance of salty and sweet–just the flavors we like in the slightly bizarre Mo’s Bacon Bar by Vosges Chocolate. 

Bonus: In other national nods, several local businesses have recently garnered attention, including Boulder’s Icebox Bakery (Cookie magazine), culinary tourism guru Peggy Markel, Denver’s Devries Chocolate(Food & Wine), and Lyons’ Dale’s Pale Ale (Bon Appétit).
